If you would like to learn how to make your own stained glass projects, I offer various courses in my workshop at Weyhill. The maximum number of students for all courses is four; so bookings must be made in advance and secured by payment of a small deposit. ONE DAY BEGINNERS' WORKSHOPS These give a taster of the Tiffany technique of stained glass. You will learn the basics of glass cutting; how the edges of the pieces of glass are then wrapped in copper foil and the final project soldered together. During the day you can create a small hanging panel or mirror in coloured glass to take home with you. The cost of the course if £50 for the day and includes all materials and use of tools. Beginners' workshops are usually held twice each month, one on a weekday and one on a Saturday. The courses begin at 10am - most people usually finish between 3pm and 4pm. Lunch can be purchased at our on-site coffee shop. EVENING CLASSES These are six week courses, providing an introduction to the Tiffany method of stained glass making. You will begin by making a practice piece in plain glass to get used to the techniques. This normally takes 2 weeks; you then have the opportunity to make a project of your own choice. The cost for the six week course is £60 which includes the materials necessary for your first practice piece. Evening classes are usually held on a Wednesday evening between 7 and 9 p.m. If you wish to continue your study of the craft of stained glass beyond the beginners' stage, and learn, for example how to make traditional leaded lights. I hold regular drop in classes where you can work on projects, using the facilities and tools at the studio and gaining help and advice from myself and other students. Alternatively I offer one to one tuition for both beginners and more advanced students at a time to suit you. Workshop days can be arranged for groups of between 2 and 4 students who wish to study together at a time which is convenient for them.
